The Humanitarian Demining Department is a structural unit responsible for coordinating activities related to the detection, survey, marking, and clearance of territories contaminated with explosive ordnance (EO). The department's primary mission is to ensure the safety of the civilian population by implementing comprehensive humanitarian demining measures and raising public awareness about mine risks. The department consists of three key groups: 1. Public Awareness Groups – conduct educational activities aimed at increasing public awareness of the risks associated with EO. They organize training sessions, lectures, and distribute informational materials to help civilians respond correctly when encountering suspicious objects. 2. Non-Technical Survey (NTS) Groups – collect and assess information about areas potentially contaminated with EO based on analysis, testimonies from local residents, and historical data. They identify and mark hazardous and suspected hazardous areas, providing data for further verification and clearance. 3. Clearance Group – carries out survey and direct marking of areas containing explosive remnants of war (ERW), using specialized equipment and machinery. This group facilitates the restoration and safe use of territories. The Humanitarian Demining Department cooperates with government authorities, international partners, and civil society organizations to effectively fulfill its mission and reduce risks to the population.
