A humanitarian hub for internally displaced persons from Vovchansk has opened in Kharkiv.
The goal of opening this center is to gather the most common types of aid in one place, making it as easy as possible for people who have left the border Vovchansk community to receive it.
The humanitarian hub will provide legal consultations, food, and hygiene products, and there will also be an opportunity to address the individual rehabilitation needs of IDPs.
The CO Relief Coordination Centre joined the creation of the hub, providing its information base. Thanks to cooperation with the CF Razom Dlia Ukrayiny charitable foundation, it closed all the needs for the center's material and technical equipment.
We would also like to express our special gratitude for the dedication to closing the needs and constant support for internally displaced persons in the Vovchansk hub to our partners: the Ukrainian Red Cross Society in the Kharkiv region, the CF Right to Protection, the NGO Proliska, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), the NGO Spilna Sprava Dlia Liudei, JEM, IRC, the CF We Are Brothers, We Are Ukrainians, the NGO Spilna Sprava, and the CF Solidarity.
The meeting was held with large network organizations that have extensive operations and representations in regions of Ukraine.
During his speech, Yevhen Koliada emphasized the need for increased government attention to the volunteer and charitable sector.
'It is important to attract media attention and build communication bridges between government institutions and non-governmental charitable organizations. From local governments to the Office of the President, everyone should be involved in highlighting and advocating for the charitable movement in Ukraine,' noted Yevhen Kol[ada.
The head of the CO Relief Coordination Centre also added that the volunteer community has a request to create a position of a commissioner for the rights of volunteers, or a responsible institution, in our country.
This will help to establish effective communication between the parties and resolve contentious issues in the activities of the charitable sector at all levels, local as well as state ones.
Following the meeting, specific steps were proposed to resolve all the discussed issues, and Ms. Iryna Vereshchuk assured everyone of her unwavering support.
This meeting was a significant step by the state towards civil society and an important contribution to its formation as a separate social cluster.
The Center's goal is to facilitate effective interaction between state and non-governmental organizations involved in humanitarian demining processes in the region.
Representatives of the charitable organization Relief Coordination Centre, based on signed memoranda of cooperation with the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration and the Department of Civil Defense, joined the newly created body as members of the analytics and data collection working group.
In total, there will be seven such working groups in the MACC, and they will cover all aspects of humanitarian demining, from training on potential risks associated with explosive ordnance to the development of new demining systems.
The experience of RCC specialists in creating programs for collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data has been useful in developing a pilot hardware and software complex for the Mine Action Coordination Center.
In the future, the CHC will be responsible for operating this software and collecting information about mine action operators in the Kharkiv region.
Also, the CO Relief Coordination Center in cooperation with Ryan Hendrickson's fund Tip of the Spear Landmine Removal Group provided the Mine Action Coordination Center with a material and technical base.
We are starting a thorough work on creating the most convenient, adapted, useful, and informative tools for all institutions involved in mine action in the region.
RCC Chairman Yevhen Koliada and Regional Director Bohdan Yakhno addressed the attendees.
The speakers presented an overview of the RCC's two-year achievements and the challenges currently facing the organization.
They also shared insights into the information and coordination approaches, decisions, and tools that guide the charitable organization's work.
The workshop included two panel discussions,
• Localization and Recovery: New Challenges and Opportunities;
• Effective Partnerships in Consortia: Challenges, Scale, and Accountability.
The first panel focused on the scale and economics of localization and the potential impact of shifting frontlines on the distribution of humanitarian response.
The second panel delved into the rationale for creating consortia, the optimal scale of operations, and the reputational risks associated with such collaborations.
We thank all participants for their active involvement and shared expertise. Only through collective efforts have we been able to be effective and respond swiftly to all the challenges of the war over these past two years.
